Noyes: Nuisance

Check out young alt/punk/garage band Noyes. The production quality is a little rough, but they've got a great combination of melodic vocals and super crunchy guitar and bass riffs and pounding drum licks that just don't quit. You can download their EP for free from Bandcamp.
I'm enjoying this sludgy, rough-cut group's no-frills sound. I think I'll go get me some more!

Gone Too Soon: Usher Cover by Airto

Just remembering Michael Jackson today. Airto has a nice voice and does a good cover of Usher's tribute to Michael.

Snow Ghosts: And the World Was Gone

You said you'd wait forever
But I blinked
And the world was gone
You wade through the water
Slowly your hands grow numb
I wish you felt me falling
I wish you'd watched over me
You said you'd wait forever
But I blinked
And the world was gone
And the world was gone
And the world was gone

I run through your head
Loud with a nightmare
Brushing your skin with my breathing
Turn out the light
And every nightlight
Run you can run you can run
I blink and the world was gone
I blink and the world was gone
I blink and the world was gone

You said you'd wait forever
But I blinked
And the world was gone
You wade through the water
Slowly your hands grow numb
I wish you felt me falling
I wish you'd watch over me
You said you'd wait forever
But I blinked
And the world was gone
And the world was gone
And the world was gone

Ravenface: Take Them All

The Brits continue to produce some of the best metal in the world. Listen to Ravenface, a fine band that I just discovered and will certainly be listening to in the future! This tune hits hard and cuts deep, with powerful guitar riffs, hammering drums, throbbing bass, and glorious, powerful vocals rising above the fray. Truly worth a listen for anyone who enjoys their metal!

New Discoveries: Terry He

Terry is a young Canadian hip hop and soul musician. You can find out more about him on his You Tube channel and Facebook page.
The featured song is a gentle, romantic number suitable for all listeners. The video tells a story, and the young women in the video are co-stars rather than objects to be ogled.
I hope that Terry has a long career ahead of him. With all the "shocking" and "outrageous" acts in pop music today, it's refreshing to find a musician whose focus is good songwriting with a positive outlook. Terry He gets two thumbs way up from me!

A is for Acapella

From the Wikipedia entry:

A cappella (Italian for "in the manner of the church" or "in the manner of the chapel") music is specifically group, or solo, singing without instrumental sound, or a piece intended to be performed in this way.

Thus, the song above does not really fit the criteria, because it does have instrumental accompaniment. But it is pretty damn cool nonetheless.

This is actually a much more accurate example of Acapella.

Magic of Jovial: In the World

This is a young band with the courage to speak out about current world issues. Such a refreshing change from the kind of tripe that gets featured at the VMA's...not that I'm mentioning any names!

A to Z Blogging Challenge: W is for Winterfylleth

A to Z Blogging Challenge
W is for Winterfylleth
by
Opal Zushaquon

I'm going to be honest and tell you that I don't know much about this band. They're fairly new, having formed in 2007. They're British. And they're well worth listening to if you're a fan of the Black Metal genre.
They do have an official website where you can go to learn more about them.
Winterfylleth might also be subcategorized as "Folk Metal." Their name means Winter Full Moon. Winterfylleth is also an Anglo-Saxon festival celebrating the arrival of winter. Their subject matter focuses on English folklore and history. Check them out!
