I'm just one tiny speck of dust in the Universe.

I'm trying to realize that every speck of dust deserves good things.

I don't like that some specks of dust think that it's okay to treat other specks of dust badly based on their physical appearance or mental problems.

I am mentally ill. I have bipolar disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder. My OCD partially manifests as hoarding. I don't hoard animals, I hoard items. I have a private blog about my struggles with hoarding. I do not give the URL to just anybody. If I am ever able to get my place into passable shape, as I am struggling to do, I will publish the results as a book. My little camera takes great pictures but it's a battery hog. I need a backup battery and to see if there's some kind of charger for those little flat batteries.

I am fiftyish years old and most of my life has been a lot of pain and struggle. It shouldn't have to be this way. So if you are the kind of person who comes along and starts making it that way for me, fuck you, you are out. I don't have to put up with your shit. I've put up with way too much shit from way too many psychic vampires already.

I write stuff, both mental health and size acceptance related blog posts, and also fiction. I am a political and religious liberal. I don't like zealots of any kind, and that includes the type of atheist zealot who thinks it's okay to belittle others for having spiritual beliefs. I can accept where atheists are coming from, I just don't like the type who think they're superior for having no spiritual beliefs. Since none of us know for sure, then fuck you if you don't think I have the right to speculate. I don't go around forcing my esoteric agnosticism down your throat. Don't shove your fundamentalist Christianity, extremist Islam, or acerbic Atheism down mine. Or if you're one of those Satanists who is like "fuck you, I'm so cool because I'm a Satanist and you are so inferior," you can fuck off as well. You're nothing but a prat and I don't have the time to waste on you.

I'm also a KHEL 666 DJ. The pay is terrible but everything else about it is really cool.

Not Really A Social Butterfly

Hi, I'm Petra. I'm mentally ill. I was in such a severe state of depression for the past year and eight months that I didn't log onto the Internet at all except to check email. I wished that I'd die every day, but the fucking Universe is keeping me around for a reason.

Some of you have heard of the infamous KHEL 666 online radio station. I've been invited to be one of their DJ's, and I think that's super cool. They have a blog and a Facebook page, so you can check them out.

I'm usually a pretty nice person, but if provoked, I can be a real asshole. I don't much care what anyone thinks about me. I've never been pretty or popular. I'm fat. That's something that tends to happen with age. If you don't like it, shove it. I don't need to jump on the fucking Weight Watchers bandwagon and Slim Fast sucks. So what if men don't think I'm hot or women get catty about my old school goth chick big girl shirts that I love to wear. Bite me.

Also, you're telling me I'm fat "for my health?" Bitch, please. Do you also think I'm stupid? You don't think I look in the mirror and see "fat?" You think that just because I have mental problems I'm delusional and think I look like Angelina Jolie? I love Angelina, but she looks like Angelina. I look like Petra. 

But but but fat causes high bloods pressure and teh diabeetus and teh hart diseez and teh arthuritus.

I'm fifty years old, you silly twat waffle. My age increses the risk of those things. People of all sizes get those things. 

Maybe unhealthy food increses the risk of those things. It isn't only fat people who eat unhealthy food.

If you think I sit around eating all day, I don't. A lot of the time when I'm depressed I can't eat. But I'm still fat.

But you won't get a man if you're fat.

I also won't get a man because sometimes I sink into depressions that last for almost two years, so I have a hell of a time holding a job or even cleaning house. Sometimes its hard for me to even get out of bed. You think any man wants that?

Anyway, unless George Harrison is coming back from the Great Beyond riding on his unicorn to take me off to Strawberry Fields Forever, or Peter Steele is knocking at my door dressed all in black and carrying a black rose and some flavored massage oil, I ain't interested.

So that's me. I'm Petra. You can call me Pet. I'll be your friend, but I'm not your pet. You'd have to work pretty hard for that privilege!

The Bitch is Back

Hi friends. I decided to follow in the footsteps of my writing sisters and make one of these spaces so I don't fall behind the times. So, here I am.

As many of you know, my brother Adam Everhard's and my father died on the night of July 8. He had a serious heart attack two days before my birthday. His heart was badly damaged. Because of his age (and the fact that he isn't Dick Cheney and can't pull those kinds of strings) he was not a candidate for a transplant, which is really the only thing that could have saved him. So he went into congestive heart failure, and he died.

Dad's body was cremated and we will have a memorial service tomorrow evening. It will probably be a lot more sentimental than he would have liked. Dad was very pragmatic. I'm not sure how he ended up with a couple of wet blankets like Adam and me. Our eldest sister is a lot more like he was. Mom isn't a particularly sentimental person either. 

I just know I'm not going to sleep well tonight. I'm glad that I have a husband who understands my weirdness and doesn't tell me how I should be. 

You have not ceased to exist, Dad, you have just flown beyond the horizon where we can't see you any more in this life. But we will see you again.

We love you.

 

How...Posterous!

So many things have happened in the world of my Writing Sisters since I've been gone! We lost the ability to use the Ping service for our exciting KHEL 666 Radio Station Blog. It seemed like KHEL 666 might be no more except on Facebook, and that would have sucked. But then my brilliant Writing Sis, H.P. Liebekraft, saved the day by finding this service. Helena rocks so much--and she likes jazz too!

I know I'm a little late to the party, Helena, but I want to say thank you too. This looks like it will be a fun way to blog. Blogger is actually kind of a pain in the ass if it isn't being used for a specialized blog. At least I think so!

Speaking of Blogger, we've all been pitching in to help our Writing Sis Cie Cheesemeister work on a really cool epic full of madcap fanfic fun. I so wish I could give you the URL, but Cie has been a little vulnerable lately, and we want her to feel free to express herself. I'm just thrilled to be part of it! She loves each of her characters as if they were a real friend. I know some of you might see this and think "what a loser," but when you've had a hard life, sometimes it's kind of hard to relate to the real world. So don't judge.

Why?

Hello, and let me briefly explain my reason for creating another blog.

I'm part of a group of friends who manages an online radio blog called KHEL 666. We were using the ping.fm service to send our posts to our Blogger blog and our Facebook page. But Ping ceased to support blogger. 

It sucked, because it seemed that we would have to close down the blog.

But then H.P. Liebekraft found Posterous.

My other writing sisters are crowing about how wonderful it is.

Hopefully I'll enjoy it as much as they do. They seem to think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread and Stephen King.

Quick Change Artist

I was a fairly new member of the KHEL 666 crew, and to social networking itself, really. We were using an application called ping.fm. Then Ping stopped supporting blogger, and the group needed to find something new so we wouldn't have to give up our Blogger home.

H.P. Liebekraft is the genius who found the Posterous application.

So now I have to get used to this. As the man said on the way down after jumping off a tall building, so far so good.

If you're wondering what KHEL 666 is, it's a radio station in the form of a blog. There is also a Facebook page. It is very eclectic and thus is only for people with open minds who like discovering something new or expanding their horizons, not for scene twits of any type.

The Psycho has Moved

Those who know some of my writing sisters may have already heard this story. The KHEL 666 gang has made a mass exodus to Posterous, because ping.fm, which we used for years, no longer supports Blogger. We like our KHEL 666 blog, and weren't about to give it up! It would have been too much of a pain to post our shares to Ping, AND to Facebook, AND to Blogger. We needed a solution.

Fortunately, the brilliant H.P. Liebekraft discovered Posterous! And now, here we are!

I'll no longer be updating the Blooming Psycho's Funhouse blog on Blogger, in case anyone actually read that.

We'll see how this goes, but so far it looks pretty cool!

What Ho--Another Tempest Blog!

Dahlings, people are so terribly crude these days! When I read the title of this post to Axe Man, his response was "What ho? Where?" I suppose this really should be no surprise, considering that Axe is very proud of his title: The Norwegian Nympho.

You may be asking yourself, why in the world would Tempest need a new blog? Does she not clutter up the web quite enough already?

Dahlings, when one is attempting to make a name for herself, one can never do too much cluttering! That is what I always say! And you can tell this immediately upon entering my suite at the Netherworld Hotel. But the real reason for this newest blog home is quite practical.

Ping.fm, which my beloved Writing Sisters and I have used for years, no longer supports Blogger. Our little online radio station blog, KHEL 666, is a blogger blog. If you know any of my sisters, you may have already read this tale of woe--which was not woeful for particularly long, thanks to the brilliance of Sister H.P. Liebekraft! Dear Helena quickly discovered Posterous, and thus a new era in blogging is born!

None of the major Netherworld blogs (RBUMM, UNDEAD) will be effected by this change. It is, however, likely that I will close down my personal Blogger Blog, Torrid Tempest, and redirect traffic here.
