Rodja Raicevic

Rodja Raicevic was born in Montenegro in 1957 and died on October 7, 2001 from a drug overdose. A sad loss. He was very talented.
My older relatives, all dead now, often listened to music like this. It's a cloudy, drizzly day and I guess it has me feeling a bit nostalgic.
Here is a longer playlist for those who, like me, find this kind of music pleasant.

A to Z Blogging Challenge 2015: Q is for Quay West

Quay West is a holiday park in New Quay, Credington, South West Wales. Its mascots are a tiger named Rory and a bear named Bradley. It seems like the sort of place that families with young children would particularly enjoy. I thought it would be interesting to blog about when I found the video featuring the odd dancing tiger and bear.
Although I'm a curmudgeon who avoids places teeming with screaming children like the plague, I'd far rather go to Quay West than to Disneyland. Being less well known, it would probably take less of a toll on my pocketbook, and a grumpy old fart like me could probably find activities to occupy myself that involved a minimum of kiddies.

A to Z Blogging Challenge 2015: I is for Indian

I don't understand the words, but the video is beautiful and the song is enchanting. I love Indian music. For me it invokes emotion and thoughts of spiritual exploration. I wish I could say I understood more about the culture and the songs.
This particular style of music is called Marathi. It comes from the Indian state of Maharashtra. Here is a page from an informational website, which will explain more about the people of this region and about their music.
I learned a bit about Indian culture when I took a World Religions class to work towards the degree that I may one day have. I can't claim any kind of expertise. India is a fascinating and diverse country. The Indian bloggers I have encountered are creative and intelligent. I also love Indian food.
I don't think a lifetime would be long enough to learn all there is to know about India. So I hope I get more than one lifetime to continue my studies!

Silly Sunday: Fits for Bipolar As Well

Long as you can keep on keeping on, sometimes the best thing to do is laugh at the effed-up hand you've been dealt. I know that's what I like to do whenever possible!
Bipolar disorder messed up my life in a lot of ways before I learned how to manage it.
I'll never be normal, but, meh, normal's overrated!
Stay silly, y'all.

Wiz Khalifa is a D-O-G

I'm not one for making fun of people's looks, and I'm not, in fact making fun of Wiz Khalifa's looks. I'm just wondering what the hell she ever saw in his skanky azz. Skanky is an attitude, and he radiates it like nobody's business.

Monday's Music: Top 40 Hits From 1963

Hi, I'm DJ Rose. The cool tattoo shown above is on someone else's arm. I actually don't have any tattoos, but if I did, I'd like one similar to this one.
The theme for this week appears to be top 40 hits from the rock and roll era. I was born February 14, 1963, which makes me an old Rose. I've chosen the top five songs from February 1963. I hope you enjoy them!

U is for Underground

Underground music is an extremely broad term. It does not refer to any specific genre or era. The Wikipedia definition follows.

Underground music comprises musical genres beyond mainstream culture. Any song that is not being legally commercialized is considered underground. Such music may tend to express common ideals, such as high regard for sincerity and intimacy, freedom of creative expression as opposed to the highly formulaic composition of commercial music, and appreciation of artistic individuality as opposed to conformity to current mainstream trends. Apart from perhaps the underground rock scenes in the pre-Mikhail Gorbachev Soviet Union, very few types of underground music are completely hidden, however, performances and recordings may nevertheless be difficult for outsiders to find.

Above is some great underground Deep House music. Try it--you may like it!

DJ Rose has been given permission to promote her very underground novel, which was inspired by the tragic life of a figure from the Scandinavian metal underground scene. Please check it out! And spread the word, if you would be so kind.

Would You Rather...?

These fellows play a mean game of "Would You Rather?"
I ended up blowing water out my nose, both barrels.
My son plays a pretty vicious game of "Would You Rather?" He comes up with the most outrageously awful questions and neither choice is in any way acceptable.

Road from Karakol

This fellow is far gutsier than I am. He also is probably stronger and has more stamina.
Come nightfall, I'd be crying for my warm beddy-bye!

The Last Brave Days of Freddie Mercury

I dreamed of Freddie shortly after he died. He kissed me on the cheek, thanked me for thinking of him, and told me not to worry so much about things.
Make of it what you will.
