Curse of Immortality

My sick little soul needs some dark and gloomy shit to make me happy.

Sympathy for Emo Kids

Emo is a "scene," and there is a certain style that goes along with it. People who identify as Emo like listening to variants on music which has emotive and often depressive lyrics.

Here is an example.

Check out Escape The Fate – Massacre http://www.last.fm/music/Escape+The+Fate/_/Massacre via @lastfm

People who identify as Emo tend to get put down, sneered at for being fake depressives.

Might it not be that the emo "scene" has a draw for the type of person who tends to be depressive?

These young people hear the same shit that I heard growing up as a person who had emotional problems.

"Attention seeking."

"Drama Queen."

"Just do it right next time." (after cutting my wrist)

I honestly don't give two fucks about any particular "scene." Wear your hair how you want. Wear what clothes you want. I don't care.

I don't know if I could pick out an "Emo" song from any other song that I happened to like, unless I was listening to last.fm and the song was tagged Emo. It really doesn't matter to me what label is given to a song. If I like it, I like it.

I've also discovered that I tend to like the "Emo Kids" that I've come into contact with. Some of them are depressive and hypersensitive--like I am, if I'm to be honest. But some of them are simply sensitive, deep thinking, and artistic.

Hating on "Emo Kids" just because it's cool to hate on Emo Kids is just as stupid as hating on any other subculture of people just because it's cool to hate on them. If you're scapegoating someone, then you need to check yourself. You're the one with the problem.

Cheer up, Emo Kids. This old fart is in your corner!

Here's another song for you.

Suicide Season

Check out Bring Me The Horizon – Suicide Season http://www.last.fm/music/Bring+Me+The+Horizon/_/Suicide+Season via @lastfm

Truth is, every damn season on this planet is suicide season, especially when you live with a mood disorder. It's a day to day thing. Some days I have to try harder than others not to give in to suicide ideation.

Hello from Gunnar

Hi, I'm Gunnar. I'm 50 years old, and like the others here, I write. I'm a woman. (Gunnar is usually a male name in the United States.) I'm still trying to figure out this game of life. I've had some very bad periods of darkness. Hopefully things will look up before I get too old!
I'm a Pagan of sorts, though I don't belong to a coven or any such thing. I'm very fascinated by ancient religions, particularly Norse mythology. I wish I looked like the picture below, but I am not even close!

You might guess that I like Viking metal. You would be right! But I'm pretty eclectic, so you never know what I might play. Again, thanks for having me here!

A little something for you all to enjoy.

Hi From Opal

Greetings, Friends, I'm Opal, wannabe author and Lovecraft geek. Thank you all for inviting me to be part of the madness! I love all kinds of music but tend to like really dark stuff. My life hasn't exactly been all sunshine and roses. I tend to be really introspective. I get tired of thinking about my health problems, so music and writing are favorite activities. I can't play anything, but I sure can listen and daydream! Glad to be here.
