Sad songs: we love them, but we hope we never have to live them.

I'm one of the lucky few who have had a romance that has lasted since my teen years up into my middle years and is still going strong. Most early romances lead to heartbreak, and that's the sad truth.

Listening to and singing sad songs can be cathartic. Sing and cry, if that's what you need to do. Write a sad song or poem of your own. Don't be ashamed! Let your feelings show.

Harry and Zayn from One Direction have quite the bromance. I admit that this band has grown on me. They have nice harmonies. No, I'm not one of those horrid, pathetic middle aged women wanting to relive my high school years. I may be horrid and pathetic for other reasons, but that isn't one of them. I'd be the annoying Auntie who kept the lads safe from all the screaming teenage girls.

The Times Playlist

Here is a playlist for you from The Times. It's a time machine to the early 1980s. This band did not get much airplay in the U.S., at least not in the part of the country where I was living. Maybe in New York or L.A. or places like that. I honestly don't know.
