Candlemass: The Curse of Candlemass

I featured this video in a post at Encyclopedia Netherworld and figured I'd best share it here too, or there would be hell to pay!

D is for Doom Metal

Doom is one of my favorite metal sub-genres. It has a slow, heavy, melodic sound and favors dark and mystical subject matter. The roots of doom metal can be traced to the early 1970's. The genre is heavily influenced by the works of Black Sabbath.

Featured above is an iconic video from one of my favorite bands, Candlemass; the Swedish kings of Doom Metal.

If you're like me and can't get enough Candlemass, I've got another video for you at the end of this post!

G is for Ghost

Spectra Ghostseeker

Ghost is a Swedish doom metal band. The identities of the band members are unknown. The Nameless Ghouls wear robes which hide their faces. Vocalist Papa Emeritus wears a skull mask.

The band utilizes tongue in cheek Satanic imagery in their stage act.

We would like to mention that this is the twenty-second anniversary of the death of another iconic Swedish metal musician, Per Yngve Ohlin, aka Dead of Morbid and Mayhem. He would have been 44 years old this year. We hope he has found peace on the Other Side.

Neurosis Playlist

I do love my Doom, Sludge, and Darkness, Dahlings. If you do too, then this is the playlist for you!

Some of the videos aren't the best quality, as they were recorded live at a show. Neurosis is rather an underrated band.

Sharing with you now a selection of the finest Metal Cheese, direct from Sweden. Tasty!
