The theme for today's Monday's Music Moves Me and Music Monday is a song of celebration and a song that describes ourselves. The first is a song celebrating the summer solstice.
Here is a lesser known song by Elton John which describes how misunderstood I tended to feel in my youth. Depressive with an interest in the "supernatural" and the "occult," sure didn't fit in with the local church youth group. Believe me, the rumors flew.
Like Lady Samantha, I was "harmless and empty of anything bad." I guess the rumors about me being a blood sucking fiend from beyond the grave were more interesting than the reality that I was just a shy, lonely young woman with a vivid imagination who happened to like wearing black.

I still like wearing black, and while it's nice to be understood, if people don't want to make the effort, I'm not going to do bend over backwards trying to make them like me. I've got better things to do with my time.

This is one Elton John song that I am not familiar with. How can that be? lol Oh well...it's good to hear and thanks for joining our 200th week celebration of music! Have a tunetastic week, my friend!
Cathy, it's a real deep cut. I discovered it because of a tape that my cousin loaned me. The tape was called "British Rock Classics" but I didn't know half the songs on it. I liked them, though!
Thanks for visiting. :-)
I think I have heard that one but yes, definitely obscure!
Sometimes I like the obscure ones better than the more popular tunes, although I have to say with Elton John, it's hard to find a tune of his that I'd change the station on!
Thanks for visiting. :-)
You can't beat a bit of Elton John :-)
Have a tanfabulous week ahead ;-)
I can relate to not bending over backward to be liked.I am Me and that's whom I will stay.Don't like it Oh well.
Summer is certainly a reason to celebrate. Also, I like wearing black because it's so slenderizing. If someone wants to get to know you, they will. You shouldn't have to bend over backwards to be known.

I'm going to get that first song for next year. Nice.
Thank you all for visiting on behalf of DJ Helena. You've got DJ Dolly answering your comments tonight!
Thank you Steve, but best I go ahead and be palefabulous rather than tanfabulous, or I'll just end up burnedfabulous! Ditto for DJ Helena, BTW. We've both got that pasty vampire complexion.
;-)
Right on, Mike. Thanks for visiting.
Joyce, I am a fat f**k, and if people don't like it, they can kiss my fat a$$. Wear black because you like it, not because it's slenderizing! I say whatever size you are, that's a good size. Thanks for visiting--I'll step down off my sturdy soapbox now!
It is lovely isn't it, Vanessa? Thanks for visiting, as always! :-)
I don't remember hearing this one at all.
Thanks for sharing and celebrating with us!
You're welcome on behalf of Helena, Colette. :-)
Fat F**ks of the world unite, Dolly! I'm with you, sister. It took me a long time to get here but now here I am, all 285 pounds of me, and I sure as hell ain't hiding or being ashamed any more. Anyone who has a problem with it, well, the problem is theirs, not mine.
