Sometimes people who play friends on television or in movies dislike one another in real life. Andy Griffith and Don Knotts were real life friends. Their genuine affection for one another brought a level of realism to their performances in The Andy Griffith Show and Matlock.
Don passed away on February 24, 2006 at the age of 81, from lung cancer. Andy is now 85 years old.
The older Andy Griffith looks a lot like my late father. They have similar faces.
