Cop shows/crime dramas are a staple of television viewing. Over the years, they have become more graphic and intense, and, in some cases, less realistic. I enjoy watching CSI, but no forensic examiner in her right mind would be wearing a low-cut blouse and have her hair down while examining a cadaver. Shows like CSI tend to be splashy and sexy and rely on CGI effects.
Shows such as True Detective have a grittier feel. True Detective is a Southern Gothic/Noir style series which ran from January 2014 to March 2014. A second season is pending.
