Am I crazy for saying that music is the bridge to understanding between cultures?
There is great animosity between the Middle East and the West at this point.
I think that music will help to eventually bridge the gap between us.
This belief is a holdover from my younger days when I believed in nothing so much as peace, love, and music.

I think you're right. Music can be a bridge to understanding between cultures. Though we have so many types of music it may also cause a rift for those with different tastes.
